Original Soundtrack
Mithril & Mud now has a 17-track original soundtrack — 10 instrumental pieces and 7 lyrical tracks. Music shuffles automatically with smooth 2-second crossfades between tracks, starting right from the main menu.
A new Allow Lyrical Music toggle in Audio settings lets you stick to instrumentals if you prefer. Threat encounters and prestige moments get their own dedicated tracks.
Economy Rebalance
This is the biggest balance pass yet. The entire depth scaling curve has been reworked to feel smoother and more rewarding:
Depth Scaling
- Removed the D4-D9 cliff — costs now scale at a consistent 2.2x through the mithril zone
- Reduced the D11+ wall — multiplier dropped from 10x to 1.5x
- New D15+ endgame ramp — BP and timber scale at 3.5x for a challenging final stretch
- Removed BP/timber cost reductions past D13 (no longer needed with smoother curve)
Production & Costs
- Smelter rate doubled (0.04 → 0.08 mithril/s per worker)
- Surveyor rate increased (0.18 → 0.25 BP/s per worker)
- Mithril intro cost reduced (2000 → 800 base)
- All 12 rooms now cost ore — from 100 (Lumber Mill) up to 250M (Shrine of the Deep)
- Artifact costs increased 1.5x and now require both ore and mithril
- Engineering Hall capped at 20 workers and 1.20x max boost
- Mining Expertise now costs ore instead of blueprints
Progression Gates
- Prestige unlocks at depth 5 (was depth 3) — gives new players more time with the base systems
- Click power now has progressive diminishing returns at levels 3, 5, 8, 12, and 17
- Offline efficiency reduced to 15% (was 25%) with 8-hour cap
Quests
- Quests now refresh hourly instead of daily
- Mithril and rune shard rewards rebalanced
- Dwarf worker quest target increased (5 → 10)
Prestige Polish
The prestige experience got a full overhaul:
- HUD properly resets on prestige — room-gated buttons (Trade Post, Dark Forge, Converter, Artifacts, Gems, Runestones) now correctly hide when rooms are cleared
- Room cards and room panel refresh immediately after prestige
- Production rate labels clear — no more stale BP/s or mithril/s showing after reset
- Prestige panel redesigned — section dividers, grouped blessings and milestones in background panels, better spacing
- Button reorder — Ascend now appears before Prestige, with Close at the end
- Blessing loadouts removed — streamlined the prestige panel by removing the loadout system
New Systems
Tutorial Hints
A new hint system guides new players through early game mechanics. Hints appear as toast notifications at key moments. Toggle them on/off in Settings > Gameplay, or reset them with the Reset Hints button.
Converter Expansion
The Resource Converter now supports expanded recipes with more conversion paths between resources.
Troll Tribute & Lithodore
- Troll tribute — a new way to deal with troll encounters
- Lithodore unlock — new content tied to the dragon threat system
Quality of Life
- Game log persists across sessions
- Log X button for quick dismissal
- Mercenary cooldown display — see exactly when mercs are available again
- Exit without saving option added
- Room card outlines in the left sidebar for better visual separation
- Music resumes correctly after threat encounters end on save/load
- Softer mining tap SFX — less fatiguing during long sessions
